Mangalore: A blood donation camp was organised at the Mangalore University campus on November 23, Friday under the joint auspices of the departments of mass communication and journalism (MCJ) and master of social work (MSW) of Mangalore University in association with  Lions, Lioness, and Leo Clubs of Mangalagangothri and Indian Red Cross Society of India.

Dr Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University, who inaugurated the camp blood donation is a very noble donation and is the greatest of all donations which saves precious lives.

Lion MB Sadashiva who spoke  on the occasion  said the available blood units in the nation was just half of the actual demand of 10 million units of blood.

 
Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Murthy, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University,  Dr. G. P. Shivram of MCJ Department, Dr. Mohan S. Singe of the MSW Department  were also present.

Several students, faculty members donated blood. A Blood Donors Group of Mangalore University was also formed.
