Mangaluru: Finally, after a gap of two months, mechanised boat entered the sea in search of fishes from Monday. As the fishing ban imposed on the mechanised boats ended on July 31, many mechanised boats were seen sailing on the sea.
There are nearly 75 purse net boats and 1050 trawl boats in the city harbour. Almost all the boats have gone for fishing from Monday onwards, but some of the boats are waiting for the end of new moon.
As the June and July months are prominent months for the breeding of fishes, Karnataka government had banned the fishing from May 31 to July 31 as usual. No mechanised boats were permitted to sail for fishing during June and July. All the bots were anchored at the port and many were taken to the garages for repair.
Fully fledged boats are now ready to bring the tasty fish to the shore. After two months people of Mangaluru is also waiting to taste the fresh fish.
