Mangalore : Chikmagalur District Central Cooperative Bank president and state JD(S) leader Bojegowda has been chosen the party’s candidate for the forthcoming legislative council election from the southwestern graduates’ constituency to be held soon.
Speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands on Feb 22, Wednesday, he said that his constituency comprises of Udupi, DK, Kodagu, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Honnali and Chennagiri taluks.
He said that BJP candidate DH Shankarmurthy has won the lection for four times but has not created any awareness among the graduates to register their names for the election.
He said that he has been elected as the president of State Lawyers Association with getting the maximum votes from the law graduates and there are 80 law members on the state and many others are yet to register their names. But Shankarmurthy has not done anything in his 25 years service.
He also said that CM Sadananda Gowda himself gave the statement that there are many post vacant in the lecturers post in the college and other departments, when he knows this, he must have tried to fill the vacancies as soon as possible. He also asked Sahankaramurthy about the benefits e has given to the graduates till present day.
If the lecturers post is vacant from so many years, then what qualities of education will the state government give to the students and the fate of students will be miserable, he added.
Most of the government schools are lacking basic facilities and the government is not making any effort to fulfill their demands, he said. The lecturers every year hold strike during the evaluation of the answer sheets to fulfill their demands and the government is always neglecting their demands putting students into difficulty. He question Sahnkaramurthy, CM and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik about these demands to be fulfilled.
Bojegowda is the son of former MLA H R Lakshmaiah and brother of former Birur MLA Dharmagowda. He has practiced a lawyer in Chikmagalur, as a member of the state bar council and representative at the national bar council from the state.
JDS members like MG Hegde, Prof Anil Shashiraj Kavoor and Mohammed were present at the press meet.
