Mangalore: The doors of Mariamma Mahishamardini temple in Bolar in the city were broken open by vandals (thieves) on the night of Aug 24, Tuesday and Rs. 2 lakhs were stolen from the Hundis.
When the priest opened the doors in the morning, he was taken aback. Several hundis were found plundered, and in a damaged state. The robbers laid their hands on the hundis kept close to the Garbhagriha (sanctum) and pulled them down, the priest realized.
On receiving the bad news, Pandeshwara Police got busy and started to investigate or catch the thieves. The temple management had not appointed security guards so far. Earlier there was a burglary in that temple, according to management. The Police are hunting for the villains of the incident in temple, all over the Mangalore city now.
