Mangalore: A higher security systems will new cover the new Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at Bajpe/Kenjaru, with a plan outlay of Rs 80 lakh, which includes a bomb detecting canine (dogs) squad.

An exclusive dog breed programme is on the cards at a cost of Rs 40 lakhs. The central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is new providing security systems, guided by Bureau of Civil Aviation security. The dog house will be set up for training dogs near the CISF barracks, located to the north of MIA. Four sniffer dogs are to be trained first and kept in the Kennel area for crime detection.

A 15 lakh rupees worth Armory is being built, to store modern equipment to ensure maximum security in case of terror raids and emergency risks. Tenders have been called for the job to be done fully by end of April 2012.

70 men from CISF are on duty at the city airport. Barracks are built for 40 among them. Rs. 25 lacks are earmarked for the barracks to be built for 30 more. Airport secure say that all these projects taken on hand, will be finished by April next.
