Dharwad : Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Bidari said the department had decided to deploy bomb disposal squads wherever necessary in the state.
Addressing reporters here during his visit to receive ‘Mratynjaya Mahanth’ Award at Dharwad Murugha Math he said the police force was being updated for maintenance of law and order and also prevent crime in the state.
He agreed that there was a dearth of police personnel in the department, but they were efficient enough to work round the clock if necessary. He has already sent a proposal to the Government to increase the number of police personnel in order to inhance efficiency.

He said the department has decided to bring in certain changes in recruitment rules and hoped that the government would agree to this amendment. Only after that the department will be able to get more strength.
