Kundapur : A boy sought drop to his home from a car driver, was sexually harassed at Kambadakone near Byndoor in the taluk, The car driver hailing Uidpi, was later arrested by the police and was identified as Khareem Abrahar (30) from Udupi. A students of government high school at Kambadakone took a walk to his house at Heranjal Cross, Heggeri on Tuesday August 11 when, he saw a car passing from near the railway gate at Kambadakone and asked for a drop near his house.
Car driver agreed ,and asked the boy to be seated beside him and the accused moved his hands into the boy’s trousers, which took the boy by surprise and became afraid.
The accused, after little distance stopped, and forcefully asked the boy to remove his pants, and began to behave obscenely, when the boy started shouting, and the driver who developed cold feet. The car driver turned the car towards a path leading into the woods not knowing, that the way was leading to the boy’s home. A person, who was nearby came near the car and questioned why the boy was crying. Then the driver fled, leaving the boy there, who narrated what had happened to him.. The car driver tried to escape, but did not know the way, to reach the main road and had to come back by the same way, to enter the forest
The locals, were alerted, who gathered and signaled the car to stop. Even when a person who had gathered warned that he would shatter his window glasses, but though he initially slowed down, but later sped away. A friend at Kambadakone Cross was alerted and two persons way laid, the car in a motor bike. As soon as the car approached, they blocked the road with their motor bike by stopping it across the road. Knowing that he is being waylaid the driver came near them, turned the car to the right and sped towards Kundapur. Inspite of chasing the car it could not be located immediately. After a continued search, the car without its driver was found parked near the beach at Maski,
Driver Khareem, saw some policemen near a petty shop and tried to flee from there, but after a hot chase, , M Sudarshan, Byndoor police circle inspector, station house officer, Santosh Kaikini, other staff chased and arrested him.It is said that Khareem, who is from Udupi, had come to a relative’s house in Byndoor, but was seen roaming restlessly and behaving in an indifferent manner. The driver was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and produced in court.
