Udupi : The renovation of the platform (“pauli”) around the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Krishna Mutt to be held here from May 14 to 18, decided to form various sub-committees for the conduct of the ‘Brahmakalashotsava’.
Presiding over the meeting on Wednesday, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt said that the paryaya reception committee will oversee all the arrangements of the event.
Sub-committees for different aspects of the programme should be formed.
“While the Paryaya festival is held once in two years, a Brahmakalashotsava is held maybe once in 12 years or 16 or more years,” he said.
The seer said that while he expected a heavy turnout of locals , many people from other places too are expected to participate in it.
Those interested in providing “horekanike” (offering of foodgrains and vegetables) for the event could do so. As many as 1,000 silver pitchers (“rajata kalashas”) for the event will be brought in a procession.
M.L. Samaga, former Chairman of Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy, and Mohan Alva, President of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, have been put in charge of the cultural functions, the seer said.
K. Raghupati Bhat, former MLA, said that the procession, from Jodu Katte to Sri Krishna Mutt, should pass through the Kavi Muddanna Road.
The seer said that giant screens will be installed at vital points to telecast the proceedings live as it would not be possible for all the devotees to enter the temple.
He also informed the meeting that all efforts were being made to get additional private land near Rajangana parking space to provide more facilities to the devotees.
He was also trying to construct educational institutions at Pajaka, the birthplace of the exponent of Dwaita philosophy, Sri Madhwacharya, from kindergarten to post-graduation level, the seer said.
