Mangalore: Senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhan Poojari inaugurated the Brahmashree Narayana Guru Temple at Shivanagar, Alape, Padil on August 31, Friday to coincide with the 158th birth anniversary of Sri Narayana Guru, the great philosopher saint. The temple has been constructed by the Brahmashree Narayana Guruswamy Seva Samithi, Padil.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojari called upon the public to emulate the ideals advocated by Sri Narayana Guru. On this occasion, Poojari chose to point out how some uneducated youngsters of the Billawa community were being misguided to join anti-social groups, ultimately leaving them behind bars. He emphasized the need for the community to attach top priority to education.
N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, presided over the function. Damodar Nisarga, Trustee of Sri Soorya Narayana Temple, Maroli, Mohan Padil, Corporator and President of Billava Seva Samaj, Garodi and several others were present.
