Mangaluru: Women and children development department, food department and Fr Muller Hospital have jointly organized breast feeding week at Fr Muller Medical College, on Thursday.
After inaugurating the programme Women and Child development officer Nataraj said that breast feeding week is being celebrated from August 1 to 7 with the slogan of ‘Breast feeding is the key for sustainable development’.
“Brest milk has many anti biotic properties in it. Instead of breast feeding if other sources of milk is used then it may affect the health of baby. It is duty of every mother to feed the breast milk to her baby,” he said.
Addressing the gathering medical college Dean Dr J P Alva said that there is no alternative for breast milk. Breast feeding becomes necessary for the survival of the baby and for a good relationship between mother and child.
AYUSH Officer Dr Shobharani, Dr Pavan hedge, Dr Shreedhar Avabrath and others were present.
