Kundapur:  Udaykumar Shetty, the brother of former Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty has reportedly committed suicide at his house at Halady on the morning of August 9, Thursday.

Udaykumar who was 52 had returned from Bangalore the same morning.

The incident has sent shockwaves in Halady. The cause of the suicide is still not known, but reports confirm that Udaykumar enjoyed good relationship with his brother Halady Srinivas Shetty and other members of the family. Reports also said Udaykumar was deeply depressed in the recent political developments wherein Halady was deprived of a cabinet berth forcing him to quit legislatorship.

Udaykumar is survived by his mother, wife, three brothers and four sisters. A large number of people were seen visiting the residence of Udaykumar on hearing the news.
