Belthangady: A BSNLlineman was stabbed to death by Ujire College Student at his residence near Santhekatte in Ujire on Friday evening.

The deceased is Thimmappa Poojary (52) resident of Mudigere. He employed as lineman in Belthangady BSNL office.

Accused Chandrashekhar (20), second year BBM student of Ujire SDM college and was staying with his mother.

Chandrashekhar and Thimmappa Poojary were staying in a same building. The victim Thimmappa Poojary was returning to his house at around 08 PM after his work. The accused reportedly stopped him near his house and started quarrelling with him over an issue and finally the youth stabbed and murdered Thimmappa on the spot.

SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase and other police officials visited the spot soon after the incident. Exact reason for the murder is yet to be known.

A case has been registered in Belthangady police station.
