Bangalore: BSNL offices all over Karnataka circle were partially affected by a nationwide strike taken up by Joint Action Committee of all Associations / Unions, protesting against disinvestment in Public Sector and other burning issues, pending solutions.
The Telecom employees in thousands all over the country, wanted refund of Rs.18,500 crores to BSNL, paid to central govt, towards 3 G and BWA. They were against Voluntary Retirement Schemes (VRS) in vogue. They have also demanded 78% merger of Interim Dearness Allowance (IDA) with their wages from 01-01-2007.
The agitators held protest shows in front of the local head office in Pandeshwara and at Bengaluru today.
The distraught employees shouted slogans against Delhi and the UPA government, for neglecting the interests of BSNL workers at large.
