Mangalore: The Karnataka Janatha Party of former CM BS Yeddyurappa was officially launched in Dakshina Kannada district at a function held at Sahodaya Hall in Mangalore on December 4, Tuesday. Jagadish Hiremani inaugurated the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the former CM YYeddyurappa, now a KJP leader was responsible for implementing various welfare programmes in the state during his tenure as CM. He also exuded confidence that the KJP will emerge a strong party in Karnataka.
Independent Corporator Mariamma Thomas joined the KJP on the occasion. She said KJP is a secular party and added people from other parties have evinced interest in joining the KJP. She said a KJP convention will be held in Mangalore after the Haveri convention. She also said the party has already launched a membership drive.
Ramachandra Baikampady, Ananth Prabhu, Sriram Shetty were also present. Over 50 people joined the KJP on the occasion.
