Puttur : Rashmi Parvathi, a II PUC student of Vivekananda PU College, Puttur has made her district and state proud. Her miraculous invention, a salt extract from coconut petiole extract have proved to be a cure for various skin ailments, She did her research under the guidance of Badanaje Shanker Bhat, a known name in the field of agricultural research.
Rashmi, daughter of Ravishankar K, a farmer from Nekkila village in Puttur taluk, has been chosen to participate in the international science projects competition to be held at Houston in USA in May. Rashmi who had obtained second rank in SSLC examination has also done a research and prepared anti-dandruff shampoo by using medicinal herbs, had brought her national level recognition. She had secured several state and national level awards during her participation in science camps. She had presented five scientific projects during the last three years in the IREES national competitions.
Rashmi is one among the four students chosen from all over India to participate in the said competition, and the lone entry from Karnataka. Her research paper will be presented at the International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Advancement Project Olympiad being held on May 8 in USA.
Rashmi is also a talented singer and has passed in distinction in her junior level Carnatic music exams.
