Mangalore: An old building holding several different godowns belonging to reputed Companies and their stores, went up in flames and gutted on Thursday around 1 am (after midnight) in Bunder area.
Five fire-fighting machines, uniformed men and Bunder Police team rushed to space to douse the fire, to prevent it from spreading around. It took 4 hours of hard work in the dark, to put off the blaze.
The ruined building had well-known 5 firms (such as Liberty) with godowns for stationery, cosmetics, tires and general items in the area. The loss of goods in ashes could be in lakhs of rupees, and the fire was probably due to a short circuit in rainy season. Investigation continues.
