Puttur: A bullet tanker carrying LPG overturned and fell into Kumardhara River at Udane near Uppinangady at around 3 pm on Tuesday.
The bullet part of the tanker detached from the body and fell into river while driver of the tanker applied brake suddenly to avoid an accident. The engine part of the tanker has remained on the bridge.
Additional Superintendent of police Rishyanth have requested the people to not to use the Kumaradhara river water for next six hours, as there are possibilities of leakage of the gas into the water.
All the electricity connections have been disconnected. As the gas has been leaked inside the river, municipality has been ordered to not to lift the water from it.
Fire and emergency service personnel have reached the spot. The traffic on the road has been totally affected.
