Mangaluru: Earlier morning on Friday, the bundh called by trade unions started with negative notions in the city. Strike has affected the normal life of people as busses and other transport carriages didn’t seen anywhere in the city.
In some places like Kutthar, Surathkal and Urwa miscreants have burnt the tyres, it is reported. An Airavatha bus plying from Bengaluru to Mangaluru and a KSRTC bus were stoned in the city.
Some auto rickshaws was running on the road earlier and later all of them disappeared from the road. Market area was also completely paralysed due to bundh. In some places unloading of goods was found.
Trade unions have staged a protest in front of DC office. All the unions had taken participation in the protest. BMS, which was backed BJP was not included in the protest.
“The Central government is implementing anti-labour policies. All the acts are being amended as per the wish of industrialists. We demand for the hike in minimum pay to Rs 18000 per month for all the labours in India,” said CITU Secretary Balakrishna Shetty.
Union leaders Vasanth Achary, Sunil Kumar Bajal and many other leaders and members were present.
In Kundapur a bus travelling towards Bagalkot was stoned and no other such activities have been reported from here.
Almost entire Udupi has responded for the bundh. Most of the shops are closed. Some private vehicles were running on the road. No busses were seen and some of the taxi and rickshaws were functioning.
