Mangalore: The bandh call given by the NDA and other opposition parties has completely paralyzed normal life in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on September 20, Thursday. The bundh is in protest against the diesel price hike and the government decision to allow FDI in retail sector.
Both government as well as private buses are off the roads. Even autorickshaws are not plying and most of the roads are wearing a deserted look except for a few private vehicles.
Those who arrived by train in Mangalore, early in the morning, are the worst hit having no vehicles to reach their destination.
Almost all shops and business establishments too have downed shutters in support of the bundh. Police have also stepped up security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.
Holidays have also been declared to schools and colleges.
