Udupi: In a meeting under the flagship of Bunts community over businessman Bhaskar Shetty’s murder, community leaders urged the concerned authorities not to pass the property of Bhaskar to his wife who is an accused in the case, and for a fair probe in the case. They also urged district BJP President and lawyer Mattaru Rathnakar Hegde not to be the lawyer of Rajeshwari and her son Navneet.
Speaking to the media persons during the meeting on Tuesday Bhaskar’s brother-in-law Chandrashekhar said that Bhaskar suspected his wife when she denied to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary.
“His son also had a love affair and his wife also. He opposed the both affairs. Rajeshwari miused each penny of income and her phone bill was crossing several thousands. Bhaskar didn’t object it. He gave her full freedom. On May 8 Bhaskar came to Udupi for the inauguration of his son’s gym, but the rituals were performed in the absence of him and it was led by Niranjan Bhat. Bhaskar was hurt by this development,” he said.
“Bhakskar had suspicions about her wife’s loyalty and he had decided to transfer the property to someone else in the family and to divorce his wife. This led to his death. When Rajeshwari fell into sickness Niranjan performed special rituals to cure her. After that he used to visit her more oftenly,” he added.
He further explained the way how Bhaskar was murdered, “they sprayed pepper spray into his eyes and hit him with a rod. When he didn’t die then they forcibly gave him poison and wrapped the body and it was burnt in Niranjan’s house. To erase the final traces also they burnt the body inside ‘Homa-Kunda’. They also replaced the bricks of ‘homa-kunda’,” he alleged.
He further urged the government not to transfer the property to Bhaskar’s wife and son. The law should take a merciless decision, because Bhaskar did not deservethat death.
Bunt community leaders were of the opinion that being a Bunt, district BJP president and lawyer Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde should not represent Rajeshwari and Navaneeth in the court.
Lawyer Jayakar Shetty said that the case should be handed over to the higher officials for a fair probe. There must be a unbiased probe because it’s a well planned murder.
