Mangalore: Seven outstanding personalities who have rendered yeoman service in various fields were honoured on the occasion of a religious meet held in connection with the Ganeshotsava celebrations at Bunts Hostel Omkara Nagar under the auspices of the Taluk Buntara Sangha, Mangalore and Buntara yane Nadavara Matra Sangha, Mangalore taluk committee, Sri Siddivinayaka Pratishtana and Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, inaugurated the programme. Dr Dharanidevi Malagatti, DySP, IGP office, Mysore, gave a discourse on the occasion. Maladi Ajith Kumar Rai, Managing Trustee of the Pratishtana, presided over the function.

Those felicitated were Devadas Putran, Managing Trustee of Urva Mariamma Temple, Gunapal Kadamba, Kambala organizer, Malar Jayaram Rai, senior journalist, Suratkal Vittal Madhava Prabhu, progressive farmer, Dhananjaya Palke, President of Rashtriya Vishwa Brahmana Sabha, Sanoor Sunder Acharya, maker of agricultural implements and BT Lalitha Rai, veteran writer.

A Yakshagana ‘Kadamba Kaushike’ was presented by renowned Bunt artistes.
