Mangalore : Sri Siddi Vinayaka Pratishtana and Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samithi, Omkaranagara, Bunts Hostel, will be celebrating its ninth year’s Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava at Omkaranagara by organizing various programmes till September 21, informed Kadri Navaneetha Shetty, President of the Pratishtana at a press meet held at AB Shetty Memorial Hall, Bunts Hostel on September 14, Friday.
On September 18 there will be a Ganesha drawing contest and Ganesha Namavali contest at AB Shetty Hall. The same evening a unique exhibition of Ganesha art works “Vishwa Roopi Gajanana, a collection of rare Ganesha art works by Dr M Mohan Alva, will be inaugurated at Venkappa Poonja Hall of Bunts Hostel Premises by Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Odiyoor.
The idol of Lord Ganesha will be brought in a procession from the Radhakrishna Mandir from near Sri Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple, to Omkarnagara on September 18. The installation ceremony of the idol will be held on September 10 at 9.45 am. Various religious rituals will be held to mark the occasion.
There will be a unique humorous programme called “Telikeda Chavadi’ from 2 pm to 5 pm. Several eminent men including Dr M Mohan Alva, Devadas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil, Seetaram Kulal, Aravinda Bolar will participate in the programme. A Yakshagana ‘Kadamba Kaushike” will be staged at 7.30 pm with the participation of renowned Bunt artistes.
On September 20 there will be a music-dance quiz contest from 10 am to 12 noon. A variety entertainment contest “Adarsha Mitraru” will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm. Noted actor Shivadhwaj will participate in this programme.
On September 21 there will be a Sahasra Ashtottara Narikela Yaga” at 8.30 am and an Anna Santharpane from 12.30 pm onwards.
The colourful Shobha Yatra and immersion procession of Lord Ganesha idol will begin at 4.15 pm. The yatra will pass through various roads of the city before culminating at Carstreet where the idol will be immersed in Sri Mahamayee Temple Lake.
The Samithi has already conducted various contests for children as part of the Ganeshotsava celebrations which will be held with due co-operation of Mangalore Taluk Buntara Sangha and Buntara yane Nadavara Matra Sangha, Mangalore Taluk Committee.
Ajith Kumar Rai Kodialguttu, Managing Trustee of Sri Siddi Vinayaka Pratishtana, Manjunath Bhandari, Nitte Guttu Raviraj Shetty, Krishnaprasad Rai Bellippady, K Bakalrisna Shetty Bellibettu, Trustees, Dr Asha Jyothi Rai, Convenor, Pratibhanveshana Samithi and others were present.
