Belthangady : In a bus – bike accident, a two-wheeler pillion rider was killed on the spot at Dharmasthal on October 24, Friday.

The deceased is identified as Ananda Shetty (45), son of Saguna Shetty, a resident of Nerthane in Dharmasthal.

During the accident, Ananda was riding pillion with Ashok towards Dharmasthal, when it collided with KSRTC semi-delux bus plying towards Mangalore. The incident left Ashok with serious injuries and was later shifted to a private hospital.

Anand originally hailing from Chikmagalur, was working in a jewellery shop at Dharmasthal. He is survived by wife, a daughter and a son.

A case has been registered at Belthangady police station.
