Udupi: Bus services towards Mangalore, Karkala and Kundapur from Udupi which were disrupted for several hours on Thursday, August 23, following a lightning strike by bus crew, normalised later in the day.

The strike was in the aftermath of an incident wherein Ashok, the jeep driver of the RTO attacked a driver of a bus who was driving on the wrong side near Kinnigoli in the morning. It is said despite the bus driver apologising, the jeep driver entered into an argument and assaulted the bus driver.

The disruption of bus services greatly affected commuters and finally the matter ended peacefully after higher police officials intervened and settled the matter.
