Mangaluru : A Naveen Kumar of Amblamogaru was the one who took courage to complain to the conductor of the bus, in which he was travelling and objected to three men were harassing the two women sitting with them on the front seats of the bus. Thereafter, three men were asked to get up from their seats and made to occupy the seats at the rear end of the Bayar, bus plying from Eliyarpadavu to Mangaluru on Friday August 21, the was allegedly thrashed by a group at Ullal near here on Firday August 21.
Out of Vengeance, against Naveen, the three men, one of them identified as Rizwan, on Saturday gathered some persons from Amblamogaru and allegedly assaulted Naveen. who went to Ullal police station and named Imran, Ansar, Shareef, Rizwan and Ameer in his complaint. Police then took into custody Ansar and Junaid, who work as conductor and driver respectively for ‘Ashwini’ bus plying on Mangaluru-Eliyarpadavu route. For this police action, buses on this route observed immediate protest to condemn taking the two into custody while on duty. Students among general public were put to much inconvenience and inspite of expressing their grievances due to the bus strike, police did not do anything to resolve.
Following the incident, the Ullal police arrested a conductor of another bus, who was allegedly part of the group. Bus services plying on Mangaluru-Eliyarpadavu route came to a complete halt on Saturday August 22 causing hardships to passenger
