Mangalore : Abu Dhabi-based Bearys Welfare Forum (BWF) allotted the sum for the construction of toilet for 52 poor families under the ‘BWF – Shauchalaya project’ at Sahodaya Hall, Balmatta on Aug 28, Saturday.
Speaking after launching the project DK district-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai appreciated the effort of BWF in providing better sanitation facility among the economically-backward in DK.
He also said that it is necessary to work for the social change and welfare of the society. One must struggle to create a better society by giving social, educational and financial support to the poor people.
Mangalore North MLA BA Moideen Bava said that people must work in unity for the development of the backward families and help them to provide the basic necessities.
Abdulla Madumole in his introductory remarks said that previous year BWF had constructed 33 toilets for poor families, whereas this year, the Forum has identified 52 families in the district and will provide toilet facilities at a cost of Rs 15,000 each.
Former minister for higher education B A Moiddin presided over the event.
BWF vice-president Sheikh Bava welcomed the gathering, while co-ordinator Mohammed Rafeeq Krishnapura proposed a vote of thanks.
Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy former president M B Abdul Rehman and Al-wafa Trust president Mohammed Badruddin were present.
