Kundapura: The announcement of the Congress candidate for Kundapura and BJP candidate for Byndoor on Monday has brought a welcome relief to the candidate selection confusion that prevailed over Kundapura and Byndoor Assembly constituencies.
The first list of BJP candidates announced that Halady Srinivas Shetty was BJP’s candidate for Kundapura. He immediately tried to quell the dissidence within the party. To prove wrong the rumor that, Amasebailu Gopalakrishna Kodgi was against the selection of Halady as the candidate, Srinivas had food together with his politics teacher and adviser Kodgi.
The social site which promoted misunderstanding between Halady and Kodgi also later showed the photos of Halady and Kodgi having food together. In the same way he cleared the confusion on Appanna Hegde being unhappy with him.
He started his promotion work after doing a ‘pooja’ at Basruru Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple on April 13th. He had given more importance for house to house visit than public meets.
INTUC state president Rakesh Malli received green signal on Sunday night. Up until the announcement of elections, he was taking care of party promotion. He had visited many villages. He has united the party workers. Official promotion was not possible, since the ticket was not announced and the Model Code of Conduct in place. He started his promotion work after saying prayers at Kundeshwara temple on April 16th.
Congress former MLA K. Gopal Poojary was finalized for Byndoor Assembly constituency on Sunday night. BJP announced its candidate as B.M. Sukumar Shetty on Monday. Earlier, Prakash Hegde’s name was competing Sukumar Shetty. Ravi Shetty is JD(S) candidate for Byndoor and for CPI(M) Suresh Kallagar will contest.
