Mangalore : CAMPCO president Konkodi Padmanabha said that said that CAMPCO will host a national-level contact programme with farmers as part of the 58th All India Cooperative Week.
Speaking at the press meet held at the CAMPCO office, he said that as part of programme, the farmers will hold an interaction with directors of the company, who will visit them at their houses and contact contact as many as 10,000 farmers
He said that CAMPCO’s major buyers are Nestle, Cadbury, Nandini, and MILMA, hence the new mixing plant will be implemented at CAMPCO next year and that a total of 23,000 tons of chocolate will be manufcatured. The cooperative also plans to set up a rural training centre for farmers.
He also said that the 4,10,000 hectares of land in 20 districts is ready for cultivation but the cooperative faces shortage of agricultural labor and that.
The cooperative has announced 14 percent dividends to its members since CAMPCO reports a profit of Rs. 12.86 crore for 2010 – 11. The company has also exceeded its target by having a turnover of Rs. 692 crore in 2010 – 11, he said.
