Mangalore : CAMPCO, the apex body of arecanut growers of the region in association with the Arecanut Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) and Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, is organizing an Agricultural Machinery Fair at the college premises at Puttur from November 2 to 4.
Informing this to reporters on October 12, Friday, Konkodi Padmanabha, Chairman of CAMPCO, said over one lakh farmers representing co-operative societies in 17 districts of Karnataka and Kerala are expected to attend the three-day fair. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, and Chairman of the Foundation, will inaugurate the Fair, he said.
The inaugural function would be attended by several dignitaries including Deputy CM KS Eshwarappa, Union Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MN Rajendra Kumar, SCDCC Bank Chairman, VV Bhat, Secretary to Government of India and Mallika Prasad, Puttur MLA.
Over 100 stalls featuring various agriculture machinery will be on display. There will also be stalls featuring agricultural devices invented by engineering students, he added. There will also be a flower and fruits show and also cultural programmes, he informed. Agricultural implements from China and Israel too will be on display.
Various seminars and technical sessions too will be held as part of the fair, Konkodi Padmanabha informed and added Banks too will participate to enlighten farmers on the various schemes of banks aimed at benefitting farmers.
Former CM DV Sadananda Gowda, District Minister CT Ravi, Karunakeran, Kasargod MP and others will take part in the valedictory function, Padmanabha informed.
Satishchandra Bhandari, Vice President of CAMPCO, Balarama Acharya, President of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology and M Suresh Bhandari, Managing Director of CAMPCO, were also present.
