Mangalore : In the recent years, vehicle accident and theft are increasing at an alarming rate around the world. Now a days, vehicular accident control has been field of importance given by most of the manufacturing firms. The black box is most commonly used in aeroplanes and a measure opt record and preserve the cause of the accident during flight. Most people associate black box with aeroplane but now they are no longer key tool for investigation of aeroplaneaccident.Based on this idea we have developed car black box to collect information about the car. Such information includes temperature of the engine, steering position, fuel details which will be saved in the black box. And it also provides the collision detection by using flex sensors, alcohol detection from alcohol sensor, and theft detection. This applications are processed by using 16 F pic Microcontroller Integrated circuit. Thus it tends to provide real time data, under what conditions the accident occurred.
Thus with the help of flex sensors, the collision is detected through GSM. The message is sent the police station, hospitals and owner’s relatives. Then with the help of GPS, the accident occurred position is addressed in the message. This project is executed by Supreeth R., Bharath S V and Sudarshan K S. of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Canara Engineering College, Mangalore. This project is done under the guidance of Prof. SandeepPrabhu. This project is supported by project coordinators Prof.SubramanyaBhat, HoD of E&C Department, Dr.ShantaramaRai, Principal Prof. T. N. Shanubhouge and management of Canara Engineering College.

Semi Automated Fire Extinguisher With Graphical User Interface
In day to day life we encounter lot of fire accidents leading to miserable damages. There are accidents involving high risks to human life and also there are cases where the fire extinguishing process is beyond the human reach due to congested space and complexity of the situation. We come up with this project applying developments in the field of electronics and communication to provide an effective way to extinguish the fire. The purpose of this project is to provide an ease of operation to the firemen and eliminate the life risks associated with fire accidents. This robot is equipped with camera to capture live video and upload it to the web server using Wi-Fi technology. The robot is also capable of detecting the spots of highest fire intensity and extinguishing fire in these places with highest priority. The robot is controlled through RF communication by an operator located at a safer distance. Since there is a live video upload on the website, any skilled person around the world can have a look at scenario of the accident, judge the criticality of the situation and suggest suitable measures to be taken to the operator. The robot is 3.5feet in height. This project is done under the guidance of Dr. ShantharamaRai C.,HOD ECE Dept. and Mr. Padmahasa M., Asst. Professor ECE Dept., by the students Mr.MadhukarNayak K., Mr. PrashanthPrabhu B. and Mr. AshishRaveendranGovindan. The project work is supported by Prof. SubramanyaBhat, Project Coordinator Associate professor E&C Department. This work has been appreciated by Prof.T.N.Shanubhogueprincipal and Management of Canara Engineering College, Mangalore.

Heart Rate and ECG monitoring system
Heart diseases continue to be the leading cause of mortality in India in an era of Industrialization, changing lifestyles and dietary habits. The mortality rate reported in government hospitals shows an increase in death due to heart diseases, and this trend is expected to continue into the next decades. Since heart disease is increasingly affecting human lifestyles, rehabilitation and practical devices are being carried out and created in order to reduce the disability from heart diseases. The purpose of the experiments we conducted is to monitor the heart rate and ECG of a remote patient and help diagnose the problem which integrates RF technology. The results show that implementation of wireless technology in the existing ECG monitoring system eliminates the physical constraints imposed by hard wired link and allows users to conduct own check up at anytime anywhere. Our experiment is also concerned with finding the optimum position to place the electrodes so as to have efficient results. This project is implemented by the students of Anjali Kamath , Bamini Shenoy ChethanaPrabhu, Meghana Shenoy E&C department under guidance of Prof Jayashree K ,Assitant Professor, Department of E & C, Canara Engineering College. The project work is supported by Prof. SubramanyaBhat, Associate professor and Dr. Shantharama C Rai HOD E&C Department. This work has been appreciated by Prof.T.N.Shanubhogueprincipal and Management of Canara Engineering College, Mangalore.

SIMULATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF BUCK BOOST CONVERTER
Using buck boost converter it is possible to convert one dc voltage to other DC voltage. This converter is very useful in cases where we have variable input voltage and we require fixed output voltage. Here the output obtained from solar panel (8-20V) Is converted using the designed circuit to run the loads such as DC fan ,DC LED lights which requires constant 12v DC. This project finds its application to provide electricity in rural areas using renewable resources. This project is implemented by the students ashwinishenoy ,joythikirthi K Raman Maashree Amin of E&C department under guidance of Prof SubramanyaBhat ,AssociateProfessor,.The project work is supported by Dr. Shantharama C Rai HOD E&C Department. This work has been appreciated by Prof.T.N.Shanubhogueprincipal and Management of Canara Engineering College, Mangalore.

CURRENCY COUNTER AND FAKE DETECTION VENDING MACHINE
Counterfeit notes are a problem of almost every country but India has been hit really hard and has become a very acute problem. Fake Indian currency of 100, 500 and 1000 rupees seems to have flooded the whole system and there is no proper way to deal with them for a common person. We designed a system that is helpful in recognition of paper currency notes with fast speed and in less time. We have used the MATLAB image processing toolbox to develop software for this purpose. This system can be effectively used with vending machine ,as a result the machine can figure out the denominations of the currency notes and how much genuine money was placed in the compartment.
