Kundapur : Villagers of Beloor in Kundapur taluk, on March 20, Wednesday, staged a lightning protest in front of the Kota Co-operative Agricultural Bank following information that their ration cards have been abruptly cancelled without any intimation. They came to know about the cancellation when they were denied fair price shops items when they approached the fair price shops this month.
The officials of the Department of Food and Civil supplies who arrived at the place had to face the wrath of the villagers who wanted to know the reason for the cancellation.
Villagers said as many as 120 ration cards have been cancelled without citing proper reasons and questioned the authorities for their action when most of the people in the village are poor and do not have even a good house to live in.
Later, the Gram Panchayat authorities including Suresh Marakala,Vice-president of Beloor gram panchayat, Deepika S Shetty, TP Chief, Karunaker Shetty, President of Beloor branch of the cooperative society and others convinced the villagers and assured them that their problems would be solved at the earliest.
