Thumbay: Shameer and Shareef 2 friends going in a car from Farangipet to Bantwal Cross road on Sunday, Dec. 29, had a miraculous escape when the car was covered by smoke and they got out at Thumbay road. When the driver among them open the bonnet of the car there was fire in the engine due to leakage of Petrol on way.

The engine had hotted up and fire sparks filled the engine end the bonnet when they were opened up a big fire bunt the car.

Bantwal police on a call led by IP Kabbal, rush to the spot and a fire brigade nearby also reached the place on road side to douse the fire. However the car was damaged beyond description.

The Bantwal police have registered a case of fire in a vehicle and are investigating further in view of the escape of two youths in the car, who came out without injuries.
