Vittal : A over speeding sand laden truck kills 81-year-old woman on spot on National Highway 75 at Vittal on Friday, May 8.

The deceased is Saraswathi, a resident of Puttur and two others were grievously injured in the mishap.

It is said deceased Saraswathi was travelling in an Alto car along with two other passengers Ramachandra and Kanchana during the time of the incident.

A sand laden truck which was plying from the opposite direction collided head on with a car on the highway. The impact of the accident was such that the entire car was crushed. Sources said that the truck driver who was in over speed has escaped from the spot.

A case has been registered at Vittal police station.
