Mangaluru: Many Mangaluru based organisations have urged the Central government to intervene in Cauvery river dispute, as the protests in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has turned into violence.
This decision was taken in a meeting headed by Kannada Sahitya Parishat DK unit, on Tuesday.
It is also decided to write a letter to the Chief Minister regarding the decisions taken in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering Kannada Sahitya Parishad President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that violence is not a way to find solution for the Supreme Court’s order.
“Air, water and land are the wealth of the nation. We should follow the Gandhi principles to find a solution for the issue. Creating violence in the name of protests is condemnable. There are confusions in DK people regarding the Yettinahole project, but violence is not the only way to find answers,” he said.
Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino, Beary Sahitya Academy President B A Muhammad Haneef, Mangaluru University former principal Dr Satyanarayana Mallipatna and others were present.
