Mangaluru : The CCB police of Mangaluru City have arrested Abdul Asir alias Saddu alias Saadu alias Maya, 32, said to be an associate of gangster Kali Yogesh who was at large for nine years in Mangaluru on Monday.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal said, Asir, who was an accused in the Rajdhani Jewellers shoot out case of Puttur, had been at large after getting enlarged on bail for the last nine years. He was an associate of absconding underworld gangster Kali Yogesh, the Commissioner said.
Acting on the information that Asir, resident of Mogral in Kasargod was arriving at Mangaluru, attempting to sell narcotic drugs near Nanthoor, the CCB personnel arrested him along with 53 gm MDMA worth Rs. 5 lakh.
Asir faces cases of murder, POCSO, theft etc., in police stations of Kasargod district and has warrant against him, Mr. Agrawal said.
CCB personnel led by Inspector K.M. Rafique and comprising PSIs Sharanappa Bhandary, M.V. Sudeep and Narendra, ASIs K.V. Mohan, Rama Poojary, Sheenappa, Sujan Shetty and others arrested Asir under directions from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) K. Ravishankar and Assistant C.P. Manoj Kumar Naik.
