Mangalore : As per the complaint filed, the labour department, the child development project office (CDPO), and the Pandeshwar police raided the house at Old Kent Road for employing a child labour on November 17, Thursday.
The house belongs to Mansoor Hussain and took charge of a 12-year-old girl called Minaz.
The source had complained that Hussain has employed 5 – 6 children in his house, but during the raid the officials found only one girl.
Earlier the people in the house refused to open the door, but when the officials insisted, they let them inside. The raid lasted for nearly 3 hours.
Speaking to the media, CDPO officer Gangadhar said that they will send 12-year-old girl called Minaz for a medical test and later will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
On the other hand, the family said that the girl who was a guest at their house came with her brother from Bergur in Tarikere in Chikmagalur for begging alms during at Ramadan.
They also said that he met with an accident, later with the help of the family returned home and came back with his sister 10 days back after getting well. Since he is taking medical treatment in city, Minaz was staying with them.
When the officials asked the girl she also narrated the same story and also said that she is a Std VI student in Tarikere Government School.
Minaz will be safe under CWC till after the investigating the matter.
