Mangalore : Probably for the first time in the history of Dakshina Kannada it has got three ministers in the state cabinet. As expected Bantwal MLA Ramanatha Rai, Mangalore MLA UT Khader, and Kaup MLA Vinaykumar Sorake have been given cabinet berths while Moodbidri Legislator Abhayachandra Jain has been made minister of state.
This is the first that that DK district has got three ministers after it was separated from Udupi in 1997.
The portfolios of the ministers are yet to be announced. The district had five ministers during the tenure of Veerappa Moily and they were Vasanth Salian, Blasius D’Souza, Ramanatha Rai and Manorama Madhwaraj.
Congress celebrates as new ministers swear-in : There were celebrations galore in Mangalore and elsewhere as the new ministers were sworn-in in Bangalore. There were celebrations in front of the Congress office in Mangalore in the presence of a large number of workers and leaders.
