Mangaluru : The CEN police in the city apprehended three individuals from Bihar, on charges of unlawfully extracting funds from people’s bank accounts through the exploitation of AEPS (Aadhar Enabled Payment System) at the sub-registrar office.
Over the past six months, funds from the bank accounts of those who completed property registrations at the Mangaluru sub-registrar office were illicitly accessed by cybercriminals. The CEN crime police received numerous complaints, resulting in the registration of 10 cases in the last two months.
Responding to the situation, a specialized team, overseen by the city police commissioner, consisting of DCP (law and order) and DCP (crime and traffic), was assembled to investigate these cases. On October 22, the team apprehended three suspects from the Poornia district of Bihar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak Kumar Hebram (33), a resident of Supaul district in Bihar, Vivek Kumar Biswas (24), a resident of Araria district in Bihar, and Madan Kumar (23), also a resident of Araria district in Bihar.
