Mangalore : The St Sebastian Church at Bendur in Mangalore is celebrating its centenary. The yearlong festivities will be inaugurated by Bellary Bishop Rev Dr Henry D’Souza on January 20 which also happens to be the day of feast of St Sebastian Church.
Speaking to mediamen, Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest, said the theme of the Centenary is “Towards deeper Faith and Fraternity”.He said the church was set up in 1912 in a small Chapel which was located in the place where the church stands now. The Padua Educational institutions and St Joseph’s primary school at Nanthur come under the administration of the Bendur church. There are a total of 2150 families in the Parish, he informed.
17 Parish Priests and 61 Assistant Priests have rendered their services so far in the church, he said.
