Mangalore : AICC president Sonia Gandhi said that UPA Government had sanctioned the fund of Rs 80,000 crore to the state government in the last 5 year and BJP has no details about the fund utilized for the development of the state.

She was speaking at the Congress worker’s convention held at Nehru Maidan on Oct 18, Thursday. She also said when NDA government was in power, the state used to get only the fund of Rs 30,000 crore for the development. Now it is necessary to know that whether it is reaching the people of the state for their benefit.

She said that congress workers have special responsibility to show how effectively the UPA government is working for the welfare.

Mrs Gandhi said that she is happy to see large number of workers with full enthusiasm and ready to face the upcoming assembly election with full spirit.

She also said that people of Karnataka state and her colleagues in the assembly are fed up with the BJP government and do not want BJP to come into power.

She said that the people of coastal region have support a lot to Mrs Indira Gandhi and get her back into the politics. I believe that the hard work and voices of workers must be heard and not make them suffer because of discrimination and differences. Hence the congress is working for the workers to sink their difference.

Speaking on BJP party, she said that BJP is spreading the rumors and now we need to clarify it to the people anddisclose their injustice.

Various factors like health, education, job must not only provide but must be sustained for the people of the country.

Speaking on Kerosene, she said that we are giving 140 barrels of oil to the state and we continue to subsidize 80% of the kerosene, hence had no other option than increasing the price for the cooking oil and diesel. If state government is so much worried about the people, then why did not they increase the LPG cylinders from 6 to 9 as done by the central government?

He asked the state government what they are doing to decrease the hardship for the people of the state.

Stating on corruption, she said that no other party than UPA has fought against the corruption. We were the one to introduce the RTI and we wanted to implement Lokpal Bill but it was BJP who wanted to stop it in Rajyasabha.

Further congress party must work to destroy and fight against the communalism and its forces regardless from where it originates them. She also gave Dasara wishes to the gathered audience.

Opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah in his speech said that state has the most corrupt government in the country. It is making way for the moral policing with home stay attack, pub attack and church attacks.

She also felicitated Speacially abled Suresh Nayak from Mangalore and Yoga expert Shivarame Gowda from Bijapur for their achievements.
