Manjeshwara: A team from Pilikkodu Agricultural Research Centre led by ADR Dr Abdul Kareem visited Vorkady Regional Agricultural Research Sub-Centre.
After receiving request long back for the renovation of Vorkady centre, central team visited the spot and inspected it.
Kasargod ZP Development Standing Committee President Harshad Vorkady, Grama Panchayat President Adbul Majeed and others explained about the problems that Vorkady research centre is facing.
The Vorkady Agricultural Research Centre is constituted in 16.5 acres of land, but the activities of the land have been stopped since past ten years. Locals have approached the government and Agricultural University many time, but there was no response from them. Recently a application was submitted to handover the land to the Vorkady Grama Panchayat, but all of sudden officials woke up and started to give a new look to the Vorkady centre.
Haeshad and Abdul Majeed have urged the team that the centre should be developed in a way that it should help the people for better cultivation of crops and the renovation work should be done with the help of local people. Moreover the remaining land should be handed over to the Grama Panchayat.
Assistance Professor P K Ritesh, Farm Superintendant M V Premrajan, Dr Shashikanth and others assisted Dr kareem.
