Mangalore : Champath Raiji, International President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has alleged that the Centre was planning to convert Ayodhya, a cultural centre of Hindus as an Islamic Centre and reiterated that the VHP would not allow this to materialize.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on November 8, Thursday he also demanded that the Union Government should pass an order to hand over the disputed site in Ayodhya to Hindus. He said the excavation done at the site by the Archeological Survey of India had revealed that an ancient Hindu temple existed there. He also recalled that the Centre had assured the Apex Court that it will hand over the land to Hindus if any historical object is found to prove the same.
Krishnamurthy, divisional secretary of VHP, M B Puranik, Sharan Pumpwell and others were present. A Mangalore Divisional Baitak of the VHP was later held at the premises of Kadri Temple.
