Udupi: Chaithra, resident of Puttur village near Udupi had committed suicide by jumping into the Swarna River near Uppoor on September 28.
The police registered the case under the POCSO Act recently, several days after the suicide as Chaithra was a minor when she committed suicide.
Chandrashekhar, Chaithra’s father filed a complaint with the Udupi police against Adarsh, Pawan and Sagar for allegedly abetting her to suicide; a case was registered against Sections 363, 306 and 34.
The police filed the case under the POCSO Act after the victim’s mother submitted Chaithra’s birth certificate. The police then submitted the report to the court.
Meanwhile, Udupi Superintendent of Police KT Balakrishna denied the involvement of any VIPs in this case. He informed that the suspects were absconding and the police are on the lookout for them.
