Mangalore : There was a lot of confusion at the Ladygoschen Hospital here on February 1, Friday when some angry parents started protesting complaining that the negligence of the doctors and staff at the hospital had led to the death of two new born babies at the hospital on Friday.
It all began when the parents of one of the dead child, took the body to the Nandigudda crematorium where they were told that this was the sixth baby brought from Ladygoschen for cremation. Deeply agitated they returned to the hospital and started protesting. Many complained of lack of facilities at the hospital, while some said better treatment was provided to only those who paid money to the hospital staff.
However, the Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Shakuntala who was present, denied the allegations and said anyone who has any complaint can approach her with the complaint in case any staff demand bribe. She has also said that the hospital had good facilities. She said there have been deaths of newborn in the hospital sometimes as it would be much late when some patient from some small hospital in the outskirts is referred to Ladygoschen
On the death of one of the new borns on Friday, she said the baby had died in the mother’s womb itself.
