Mangaluru: Ullal police have nabbed two for cheating Rs 2.82 crore from the students promising to fetch medical seat in reputed medical colleges for them.
Sanjeeva (34) of Erode, Tamil Nadu and Thimmayya (45) of Madikeri are the arrested persons. Both have taken Rs 20 to 25 lakh from each student from Tamil Nadu.
Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet said that some of the affected students parents enquired about the seats in a medical college at Deralakatte, and the college authorities have said that the admission tests are already over.
“They registered complaint at Ullal police station. Based on the complaint Ullal Inspector Shivaprasad and other personnel arrested two persons. During the investigation, accused have revealed that, they have collected money from 16 students. Rs 37.5 lakh amount has been recovered from the accused,” he said.
DCPs Shantharaju, Dr Sanjeev Patil were present.
