Bantwal : A Camera of a videographer of a media house trapped an official of the check pos at Ukkuda here while he was accepting bribe from a truck driver. The video clipping shows an officer at the check post directing  another officer to open the gate and collect bribe from a truck driver.

However, when the officer realized that he was caught on camera, he began to quarrel with the scribe and finally  the Vittal police arrived. By then the officer wanted a compromise with the scribe on the issue.

There remains no doubt that    lorries transporting goods illegally were allowed to cross the check post after the officials are bribed. But so far there has been no action. However, an officer of the forest department has promised to look into this case and initiate appropriate action.
