Mangalore : Akhil RM, son of Meera, head constable in the Finger Prints Department was felicitated at the Pandeshwar Police station  for winning a gold medal in an international chess tourney held at Malaysia recently.

He bagged the award in the U-14 category. Akhil was trained by Derek’s Chess School and he had been to Malaysia along with his coach Prasanna Rao. Akhil has also bagged several prizes in state and national level chess tournaments.

Bharathi, Pandeshwar SI, Jagannath ACP and others were present on the occasion.
