Mangaluru : Chief Traffic Warden Joseph Gonsalves passed away on August 29, Sunday at the age of 99.

He breathed his last at the Fr Muller Hospital here.

Joe Gonsalves who was the senior most traffic warden, was an inspiration for everyone including young and old, thanks to the enthusiasm with which he pursued his duty as a traffic warden even at a ripe age.

His 100th birthday was just four months away. He had worked in the J L Morison company during the British rule and had served as General Sales Manager and even worked for the Institute of Marketing at London.

Deeply interested in solving the traffic issues of Mangaluru, he was appointed chief traffic warden in 2015 and since then was a source of inspiration to many.
