Sullia : A Child Development Officer (CDO) stopped a child marriage taking place in ST Colony of Palthady in Puttur Taluk on September 19, Friday.

It is learnt that, Sundar and Gowri couple of Vishnu Nagar in Jarathadka of Ajjawar village had fixed the marriage of their 19-year-old son with 20-year-old daughter of Fakira and Lakshmi couple of ST Colony at their home.

Soon after receiving the information, CDO Narayana Bidare went to the girl’s house and stopped the marriage. He also made the parents to write a recognizance stating that they will not conduct the marriage until June 16, 2016.

Later, he also informed Puttur Taluk CDO about the child marriage incident.
