Mangaluru : The District Child Protection Unit and childline members have rescued two women and their three children who were engaged in begging in the State Bank area on Friday.

In the pretext of selling the National Flag, the five were involved in begging. The three children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee, whose officials directed that two children and their mothers be admitted to Prajna Swadhara Kendra for rehabilitation.

Another boy, who is 11 years old, has been admitted at the Balamandira at Bondel for temporary rehabilitation.
